How many sheets does handwriting take?

A typed page and a handwritten page are not the same length. On US Letter college-ruled paper, an average Latin hand fits about 220 words on one side. Wide ruled fits fewer. Chinese, Japanese, and Korean count characters, and square grid paper holds one character per cell. Paste the text you need to write and this page lays it out in a handwriting font on the paper you picked. The sheet count comes from that layout. A number with no text uses the same line spacing and a 4 mm letter as the starting guess, with a tighter and a looser figure beside it. Print the blank sheet, or send the text to the handwriting tool to export a PNG or PDF. Nothing you type is uploaded.

Frequently asked questions

Why do the number and the pasted text disagree?

A number uses a model: about 4 mm per Latin letter, or a nearly square character on ruled paper, with a tighter and a looser figure beside it. Pasted text is measured in the handwriting font, so the page count follows that layout.

What happens on graph paper and genkou?

One character per cell, including punctuation. The spacing slider does not apply. A 400-square genkou sheet holds 400 characters; a 200-square sheet holds 200.

Is the handwriting page calculator free?

Yes. No signup, and the text stays in your browser. It is not uploaded.
